If you have already received your appointment packet from the consular section of the United States Embassy, you have been informed by the included documentation the steps that should be followed for the completion of your medical exam and vaccination.
THE MEDICAL EXAM
Present yourself to the offices of the Consultorios de Visa any workday (Monday through Friday) from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. for your medical examination. If you are an applicant for a residency Visa you should bring your appointment letter. If you are applying for a V or K Visa, please bring your instruction sheets to the Consultorios de Visa. Because the results of your exam may take several days for processing, we recommend that you come to Consultorios de Visa at least five (5) working days before the appointment for your consular section interview.
Upon your arrival to the Consultorios de Visa you should form an orderly line. Our porter (identified by a Consultorios de Visa Photo-ID) will begin passing applicants in groups and clear any any doubts you may have.
Bring with you and give to the Consultorios de Visa receptionist your medical exam information sheet, your appointment letter, your passport, three (3) 1.25" x 1.5" (inches) color photographs and your Cédula de Identidad Personal. The same is required of all family members that plan to accompany your to the United States. Children only require two (2) photos of the previously detailed characteristics. If you, or anyone of your party, has ever had a serious injury or illness, please bring any medical report you may have.
The cost of the medical examination is US$100.00 or the equivalent in Dominican Pesos for every adult examined (US$30.00 for every child under 15 years of age). This fee includes the chest x-ray(s), laboratory tests and the examination. If the examining physician finds that further exams or tests are necessary you will have to pay for these additional procedures separately. Children under 15 years of age will not require a chest x-ray or laboratory tests unless the examining physician considers it necessary.
Once our receptionist has entered you into our system, confirms your identity and receives your payment you will sent to a waiting area. You will be called over an intercom system when it is your turn for the exam of tests. You will be examined by a physician of your own sex.
Your medical exam does not require a special diet or fasting. You should eat your normal breakfast. If you take any medication for any health condition you should take them following your doctors instructions.
You should dress with comfortable and lightweight clothing for comfort in the waiting line. Seniors, handicapped applicants and parties with children under the age of three (3) will given priority. Our waiting and exam area is fully air-conditioned, has restroom for both sexes and seating for all those present. Please do not bring food or drink into the exam/waiting area.
To pick-up your results you should return to the Consultorios de Visa at 2:00 p.m. of the day BEFORE your consular section appointment. YOU MUST BRING YOUR PASSPORT IN ORDER FOR US TO GIVE YOU THE RESULTS OF YOUR EXAMINATION. In some cases Consultorios de Visa will send your results directly to the consular section.

The Immigration and Naturalization laws of the United States of America require that all visa applicants receive certain vaccinations before obtain a resident visa.
If you are applying for a K or V visa, vaccinations are optional. However, it may be more convenient to receive your vaccinations in the Dominican Republic. An examining physician will take a vaccination history and determine if the applicant has met all vaccination requirements.
The price of the vaccines varies according to different age groups. Applicants must pay for the vaccinations upon their arrival to Consultorios de Visa.
